‘metamorphosis’ sketchbook

This project was part of my Interior Design coursework of Fall 2023. We were tasked to create a design that included:

  • a word that I associate myself with.

  • a shape or form as the boundary.

  • a pattern for the negative space.

  • do something with my name in braille.

I chose to create a triptych, with patterns that broke the boundaries required

to represent my story and my growth.

the design was laser etched then cut on a piece of frosted acrylic.

pattern was filled in using basic red, blue, and black acrylic ink.

red rope as the binder to tie in with the design.

in the end, I ended up choosing this loosening red fisherman knot design, on top of a butterfly wing pattern background, surrounded by smoke
